Pedal to the Medal, mountain cycling competition

Pedal to the Medal was the first of its kind mountain cycling competition, and was held in Vanadzor on June 30, 2019. It was co-organized by EcoHub Foundation and Boo Mountain Bike Park, with the support of the EU Delegation in Armenia.

50 cyclists from all over Armenia came together for this event. The rout was 5 km long. The EU Ambassador Piotr Switalski was among the participants, too.

The event was also attended by the Head of Lori regional administration Andrey Ghukasyan, the Deputy Mayor of Vanadzor Arman Bernetsyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Gevorg Loretsyan, as well as members of local self-government bodies and representatives of international organizations.

The EU Ambassador delivered an opening speech saying that “Armenia is a cycling heaven for European tourists, and Vanadzor has a great potential of becoming a mountain cycling destination because of its beautiful nature”.

The Ambassador visited Boo Alternative House and the area where Boo Mountain Bike Park plans to build its mountain bicycle center and pump track.

The competition’s Finish point was at the exact place where the mountain bicycle center and related infrastructures will be built.

Finally, all the participants and the guests enjoyed the concert of Vanadzorian Clocker rock band and DJ Carlos Muradyan.
